Dear all,

I'm afraid I have some bad new to share with you today.

Nathalie told me that there was something strange going on with a couple of lymph nodes under her right arm since last week and when she got it tested this week, they found cancer cells. So she is scheduled to have surgery on Dec 15th to remove that. She will have a mammo on Tuesday to make sure there's nothing in her breasts. The confirmation of this weeks' tests will be given her within 4 days, but unless this Sunday's fast produce some amazing miracle, looks like she is going under the knife again which will most probably be followed by chemo this time.

I'm sending this email to you today in the hope that you can join us all in fasting tomorrow for Nat. I know I'm super last minute, but you can fast some other day or just keep her in your prayers if you get this too late.

The reason you're getting this email is because I know you are a friend of Nathalie and a person of faith and that if we all unite, it can at the very least, bring her the peace she needs to go through another operation. I urge you NOT to call her at home. Her parents don' t know yet and she would NOT like them to hear it over a phone conversation. Should you wish to communicate words of encouragement, you can reach her through email at: withfaithineveryfootstep@gmail.com.

Now you all know that Nathalie is a massage therapist and works independently. As such, she is not entitled to any private health insurance and since she found a bump in her breast 2 years ago, she decided to go through private health professionals since there is beast cancer history in her immediate family and it is MUCH faster than the public sector in Canada. This is why she was able to detect and act on the tumor quite early the first time around and even this time.

Now she will NEVER ask for help on her own, so I would like to be her voice tonight and ask for help on her behalf. Whether you wish to participate or not is entirely up to you and not required, but would be really appreciated by Nat. All the tests and the professionals she sees are quite expensive and though she has very little means, she pays for it all out of her pocket which is why she is so broke all the time.

I have two suggestions on how we can help her financially.

  1. You can call her to get a massage. She gives receipts that can be reimbursed by all private insurance companies and could really use the work. This way, there is no money out of pocket from you, but all the work she gets helps her pay for her expensive treatments. She is a REALLY GOOD massage therapist and can accommodate you in her office in NDG from Monday to Saturday, days and evenings.
  2. You can decide to donate money. I suggest to collect all the checks in her name and put them in a card that I will give her at the hospital before the operation. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can either give me the money directly or send me a check or even wire money through email. Whichever way is more convenient for you. Of course you can wire her the money directly but she might fight you on this. Please email me for mailing instructions.
I hope you won't mind that I wrote this email today but I'm really trying to do all I can to help her. If I had the money, I'd pay for her tests myself, but I just don't at this time in my life which is why I'm coming to you, all her friends. Some of you told me before that you had no idea she had cancer. Indeed, this is not something they scream over the rooftop because they don't want people to pity them, I'm just passing along the message now because I know that all together we can make a difference. We we unite in fasting and prayers, great miracles can result.

Again, I want to reiterate that you are not expected to donate, but if you would, I know that we can all make a difference, however minimal our contributions. I also know her very well and she would be very reluctant to accept money from one individual only, but when I will present her the get well card with all your best wishes, I know that she will be moved to tears and will be VERY grateful for your sacrifice. She has been a great support to me and now she could really use my support, so I'm doing all I can to help her in any capacity. If she has touched your life the way I think she did, then please don't forget her in your prayers.

May God bless you and your family during this special holiday season.
